GAE Summit: Technique, Evidence, and the Path to Practice

October 24, 2026 | Virtual Event

October 24, 2026 | 8:30 - 11:30 am US Central

GAE Summit

Genicular artery embolization has moved quickly from early feasibility data to real-world adoption, but patient selection criteria, embolic agent choice, and technique still vary widely across practices. This summit brings together expert faculty that will walk through patient selection, imaging interpretation, anatomic mapping, and embolic agent choice. Session 2 turns to where the evidence currently stands, how to manage complications and non-responders, and what a high-volume GAE practice actually looks like. Case-based discussion and open panel time anchor both sessions, with faculty addressing the technical and clinical judgment calls that don’t show up in the published literature.

Session 1: Patient Selection, Anatomy, and Technique

This session covers the essential building blocks – from conventional OA treatment background and patient selection through core GAE techniques, anatomy review, and alternative approaches like genicular nerve ablation.

  • Patient selection for GAE , Dr. Osman Ahmed
  • MRI: how to navigate BML, Synovitis and meniscal lesions
  • Mastering Genicular Anatomy: Variants, Collaterals, and Anastomoses, Dr. Bedros Taslakian
  • Embolic Agent Selection in GAE: Particles, Liquid Embolics, and Beyond resorbable, Dr. Marc Sapoval
  • Optimizing GAE technique, Dr. Jafar Golzarian
  • Case 1: GAE in Knee OA with permanent particles, Dr. Sid Padia
  • Case 2: GAE with resorbable alginate, Dr. Mark Little
  • Panel Discussion

Session 2: The Evidence, the Exceptions, and the Practice

This session focuses on real-world results, complications management, comparative effectiveness studies, and expanding GAE applications beyond traditional osteoarthritis, along with challenging case presentations and future directions.

  • GAE in 2026: The State of the Evidence and Where We Stand, Dr. Sid Padia
  • Managing Complications and Non-Responders in GAE, Dr. Frederico Collettini
